The productive cerastium (Cerastium biebersteinii) is a practically unchanging perennial plant, which grows fast and tolerates the most adverse conditions. Even in the most difficult soil it will manage to unfurl a blanket of white flowers. Cerastium provides a great source of shade for the growing medium in the hottest and most inhospitable atmospheres. Its grayish leaves should be cut frequently to regulate its invasive tendency. Those leaves will in the future make a wonderful green blanket and prolific composting material.
